EVANSTON, Ill., April 23 () -- The winners of Northwestern University's Agnes Nixon Playwriting Festival will get to write episodes of the U.S. soap opera "All My Children," organizers said.Prospect Park Productions revived the daytime drama after it was canceled in 2011. New episodes will start running on The Online Network next week. Prospect Park co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz,Jimmy Choo UK, a Northwestern alumnus, and Barbara O'Keefe, Dean of Northwestern University School of Communication, announced the "AMC" opportunity for festival winners Monday. Nixon is a creative consultant on the show. The writers and festival program at the school will receive an outline for an upcoming episode, then will have one week to produce a finished script. "Agnes Nixon not only had the foresight to help us create and build our playwriting program at Northwestern -- she is supporting our most talented students as they take the next steps in their development," O'Keefe said in a statement. "It is amazing that someone like Ms. Nixon, a pioneer in serialized television, is helping our 21-first century students use the newest channels for presenting their work.""Agnes has been a pioneer in every way, she has inspired and nurtured the careers of countless individuals and we are truly honored that she is so actively involved in our efforts to breathe new life into her storied franchises," said Kwatinetz. "We wanted to honor her legacy and the festival that bears her name. What better way to do that than by giving some of the school's best and brightest students the chance to craft an episode of one of her beloved creations, 'All My Children.'"
