He played his last of four shows at the venue Friday night.Friend to be Vergara surrogateNEW YORK, March 9 () -- Actress Sofia Vergara and her fiance, Nick Loeb, have asked a close friend to act as a surrogate and carry their baby, the New York Post reported."The child will be biologically Sofia and Nick's baby, and she has selected a surrogate -- who is a very close girlfriend -- to carry the baby," an insider told the newspaper."A procedure has taken place, and Sofia and Nick will find out in a few weeks if it was successful, if the surrogate is pregnant, and if they will become parents," the source said. "A baby is something they've both wanted for a while, particularly Nick, who has been pushing for it. He is a little uneasy that the surrogate is Sofia's close friend, but is very excited about becoming a father."Vergara, 40, is one of the stars of the TV sitcom "Modern Family." The Newmans will have their actual wedding the week of March 18."The soap opera will celebrate its 40th anniversary March 26.Rylance to star in 'Wolf Hall' miniseriesLONDON, March 9 () -- British actor Mark Rylance is to play Thomas Cromwell in a miniseries based on Hilary Mantel's novels "Wolf Hall" and "Bring Up the Bodies," the BBC said.Cromwell was chief minister to King Henry VIII of England from 1532 to 1540.Rylance, the former artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe in London, is currently rehearsing for the lead role in a new play, "Nice Fish," at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. He is to return to London in September to direct Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones in "Much Ado About Nothing" at the Old Vic, the BBC said."Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" co-writer Peter Straughan is adapting Mantel's books for a six-part series to run on BBC Two.No start date for filming has been announced.The BBC said Mantel will serve as a consultant on the program as she also pens the third installment in her trilogy of historical novels.
