John is 65. For 50 of those years, he has been in the shoemaking profession around the world. Late this month, his tiny John Shoe Repair will mark its 25th year in a Clairemont strip mall, where he maintains a legion of loyal customers from throughout San Diego County.

Shoemaking and shoe repair are not the same profession anymore,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he tells you. They on their way out.
(most shoes) are synthetic and made to use and just throw away, he says. there really not a lot of (repair) work available. Plus, rents on places (available) for opening a (shop) are sky-high.
That why this is not a good business to get into and why there aren a lot of (shoe-repair shops) opening up.
saw this coming, and that why I talked against it with my son (especially) when he would come to work with me when he was a kid. look at the Yellow Pages in 1981 and in 2005 seems to support John theory. Twenty-five years ago, at least 91 shoe-repair shops were listed. Nearly half that total 47 are printed in the most recent editions.

That part of the right way to do business, he says.

John picks up Brittany from school every day and brings her back to the shop, where she helps out and visits with him after homework.
