"I can't imagine it would be legal for any school to prohibit a student from walking in graduation due to economic reasons," West said. "It's unconscionable."

"If the dye lots are different,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they'll stick out just like a sore thumb," he explained of Cypress' deep purple gowns.
Estero High allows hand-me-downs, but staff first inspects the caps and gowns to ensure styles and colors match, and also that the gown is within good shape. Only six seniors have gone that route this year, according to career specialist Jina Browder.
Graduation is just one part of senior life. Many buy senior T-shirts honoring the category of 2008. After which there is the senior prom, with dresses and tuxedos and limos and corsages. The same goes for homecoming, senior awards night and baccalaureate.
"I've noticed many people are spending a significant amount of cash on prom now," said Fort Myers High senior Rachael Grattan, 17. "If they get their hair done,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's $100. Their nails are $50."
Grattan found an offer on the prom dress and shoes for $150,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], were built with a friend fix her hair for free and didn't bother with her nails. But Grattan's other senior expenses include $50 for her share of a prom limo; $60 for any yearbook; $100 for a graduation cap, gown and announcements; and $50 on a new graduation dress.
The only real required senior expense is a cap and gown. Schools can dip into proceeds from campus vending machines.
